Happy International Women’s day!

It’s obvious: We’re two women who own and run a business together. So why WOULDN’T we talk about International Women’s Day? But it’s truly a topic that’s close to the heart, as we’re two women who deeply care about equality. International Women’s Day is a reminder that we’re still not where we wanna be in terms of gender equality.

We didn’t start this just to be “women in business.” We started it because we had a vision, talent, and drive—just like so many other women who are out there building, creating, and leading. And yet, we know the production world still doesn’t always make space for us the way it should.

That’s why this day matters to us. Because it isn’t just about celebrating how far we’ve come. Which we should do btw! Women are THE best, like why do we let out a sigh of relief when we realize a producer, production manager, production coordinator or any other person with an organizational role is a woman? Just saying.

Fun fact: The very first shoot we went on together was a documentary about the Swedish Golf legend Annika Sörenstam. And the entire crew of 7 consisted of women! Director, Producer, DoP, B-Cam, Sound and two local Production Managers/Field Producers (aka dream team Erin and me). This was obviously something that stood out, like wooow all female woohoo. And guess what, this shoot was efficient, harmonic, the communication was amazing and it was SO FUN!

So yeah, this day IS about celebrating women and their achievements. But it’s also about recognizing how far we still have to go. It’s about lifting each other up, demanding better, and making sure the next generation of women doesn’t have to fight the same battles we have. We realize the opportunity we have, and at Production Coven we’re very intentional about how we run things. This is why we’ve built this venture around our core value of equality, around lifting each other up, about CREATING space for others. Because we know that when women support women, when we take up space unapologetically—that’s how change happens. That’s how MAGIC happens.
